Album Description
Indigenous is a quartet of Nakota Sioux Indian family members--brothers Mato and Pte, their sister Wanbdi and their cousin Horse--who have built up a very strong fan base in the US. They released their first recording in 1997 when the Indigo Girls' Amy Ray asked them to contribute a track to
Honor the Earth benefit CD. Their first album,
Things We Do, appeared in 1998. They were introduced to the blues at a very early age and cite artists such as Buddy Guy, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots as musical influences.
CD Description
Major label debut from Native American blues-rock combo. Refusing to pander to stereotypes by exploiting their culturalheritage, here they simply play good old fashioned blues rock with the flavour of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robin Trower. With a thick, heavy production by the Davey Brothers of 90s Brit blues band The Hoax, the album also features a cover of Jimmy Reed's 'Shame Shame Shame'.
