3.0 out of 5 stars Morph Sells Out, 15 Dec 2004
By Scatman Col "Scatman Col" (Manchester, Lancashire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I love Morph but I urge you not to buy this DVD. Since when did Morph play computer games? Why is Neil Morrissey narrating? I was enticed into getting this DVD because I thought it included the classic 'Gobbledygook' episode. Watching it made me feel cheated as it is just a poor updated imitation of the original Morph we all know and love. I'm sure even people with tiny minds will question this versions authenticity. Must try harder. (P.S don't be fooled into buying the Flumps DVD because you think you enjoyed it when you were a nipper - it's rubbish)

1.0 out of 5 stars Scatman is right, 30 Aug 2006

Morph is cool! But Neil Morrissey? Why?

Morph never needed narrating, that's the point. What next Harry Enfield narratiing Pingu?

The trouble is why Neil Morrissey? Yeah he did Bob the Builder but that over commercialised rubbish is staying well away from my little boy. Back in the good old days we had proper quality actors doing the voices, Willie Rushton in Trap Door, Bernard Cribbins in The Wombles, Arthur Lowe did Mr Men, Roy Kinnear did Bertha. Now what do we get? Neil Morrissey. Well great.

The nice thing about the good old days were the people narrating, dear old John Le Mesurier narrating Bod sounded like my grandad telling me a story. Neil Morrissey on the other hand comes across as a big infantile lout. Certainly not intelligent, cultured or kind.

Not that Morph even needs narrating in the first place. And if he did where's Tony Hart he's still alive and kicking. Kept a generation of kids happy and even if he is looking a bit past it now I'm sure his voice is still as calming and reassuring as it always was.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing & picture quality not great, 14 Feb 2008

This DVD is made up of 13 episodes that has a mixture of old classic Morph clips segued with new ones. It works OK in that sense, but as The Amazing Adventures of Morph existed without this footage I wonder if it was strictly necessary. (Trying to reach a new young generation?)

This does not have any of Tony Hart's original narration either which is also a shame for those who remember it with fondness like I do. But what really got to me after upgrading from VHS (you can get hold of this DVD very cheaply it would seem...) is that IT LOOKS LIKE THIS WAS A TRANSFER FROM ANALOGUE TAPE!
