Transfer data from a Bluetooth-enabled computer or PDA and computers connected to the LAN via the AP, or simply gain Internet access through the connected LAN. Send a print job to USB printers via Bluetooth by connecting your USB printer to your AP. The built-in print server also allows you to send print jobs from computers connected to the LAN to USB printers connected to the AP. Our AP includes a Class 1 Bluetooth radio-the most powerful radio available. It operates at up to 723Kbps within a 100-meter range and supports up to seven users simultaneously. Our easy-to-use web browser interface makes managing your AP simpler than ever. By using DHCP, your AP obtains an IP address automatically when connected to the network. Connections to all Bluetooth wireless devices are secure through 128-bit encryption, and user authentication. Straight from the box this little box is unstable, and printing from Windows 2k and XP Does not work. HOWEVER.. this unit is made for Belkin by Roving Networks. Buy it, then download the firmware update to fix all the bluetooth bugs, then follow the instructions on how to set up printing in the pdf file also available on the above link. Belkin offer litle or no support and no firmware updates. Roving Networks are Excellent and transform this unit from a usless waste of desk space into a really usable stable print server and access point. I would have rated it 5 stars but the failure by Belkin to support this product knocks off 2 stars.

I have been using this access point now for 4 years. It has been connected into my LAN for all that time, and it pretty much 'just works'.

Initially I bought it so that I could use my Palm T3 anywhere in the house (and even in the back garden) to listen to internet radio, check my emails, etc. The Palm software supports access to the LAN profile that the access point provides, though setting it up took a bit of trial-and-error and rummaging Palm web sites.

With a bluetooth adapter in my Vista laptop I can connect to it too. Not as fast as wi-fi but helps conserve battery power.

In the time I have had the access point, I have done one firmware upgrade, which went smoothly, and I have downloaded updated print drivers from the Belkin web site.

The printer driver update was important. It allows use of the LPR protocol rather than the proprietary one that Belkin previously used. The LPR protocol 'just works' -- I have my USB laser printer permanently plugged into the access point -- but the proprietary protocol was prone to requiring a reset from time to time.

Connecting to my network directly, or via the access point, I can print reliably. However if you plan to do this you need to make sure that your printer is network-compatible. Multi-function devices (with built-in scanners and fax etc) tend not to be, and nor are the cheaper varieties of printer.

The access point is only USB 1.1 but I have found it works fast enough for internet radio and checking emails on my PDA, and even for web-browsing on my laptop. I tried iPlayer and the data rate was too slow to keep up so there were pauses -- but that's what you'd expect.

The only thing that does not connect to the access point is my Windows Mobile phone. This is a problem with the phone. It does not have the right software. My laptop and my Palm T3 connect to it. MS seems incapable of making Windows Mobile do the same.

The access point has been a main-stay on my LAN for 4 years. If I were buying one right now, I would be looking for USB 2.0 EDR. But bluetooth access points are hard to come by. If you really need bluetooth, and you aren't too worried about the speed, this one's pretty good.
