This movie is about a psycopathic killer, who stalks and kills young women who reject him. Lt. Leo Kessler(Bronson) is sent to investigate the murder of a young woman and her boyfriend in the woods, he soon realises that the young woman is actually the daughter of an old friend of his, and he soon starts to take the case personally. The young woman in the woods was also the best friend of Kessler's daughter, and she soon becomes the next target of this killer's obsession. His capture seems impossible, because he kills with no clothes on, and wears rubber gloves, and always seems to have an alibi. Although he has not counted on Lt. Kessler being on the case, a cop who will do anything to bring the killer to justice, and soon before his daughter becomes his next victim. This movie is an absolute must for any Charles Bronson fan.

I saw this film when it first came out and loved it. After watching it again recently it did seem very dated but it is still a great film and well worth watching. Charles Bronson as usual is a superb.

Bronson is and remains my all-time favorite actor. Although not all of his movies were GREAT, this one can be referred to as one of his best and most suspenseful.
Bronson plays a cop, tracking down an intelligent homicidal killer he cannot frame because he has a tight alibi, Bronson himself breaks the law by planting evidence. This backfires though, leaving him nothing but to turn vigilante. And though you know what is going to happen, this film remains suspenseful till the very end.
Gene Davis is a worthy adversary - one you really love to hate - not your average dumb-ass killer. Don't find that too often either. ONE OF THE BEST THRILLER EVER MADE.

Surprisingly effective blend of cop thriller and slasher film. Bronson was always good in this kind of role. Some people have argued that one scene is uncomfortably close to the Richard Speck case and if I'm honest it does sour the movie a little.
It's a bare bones DVD, but well worth buying.

Bronson and the rest of cast brilliant, especially his daughter.

A full frontal of the villain would have been in order or he should have kept his clothes on, perhaps.

It is a shame the violence has to be so graphic but otherwise I guess the audience would not support CB's uncompromising vigilante tactics.

Essential for Chuck fans. One of the dozen or so films he made that can be rated as classics or masterpieces of the genre.

Mr Majestik is on top of the list but this comes fairly close.

Can be watched every few months.

By Trevor Willsmer HALL OF FAMETOP 50 REVIEWER on 15 Sept. 2010
Format: DVD
In a career filled with too many bad movies, 10 to Midnight may well be a low point even for Charles Bronson. Shamelessly cashing in on his Death Wish reputation, he's yet another jaded cop who thinks "The way the law protects these maggots out there you'd think they were an endangered species" on the trail of Gene Davis' naked psychotic misogynistic serial killer and willing to bend the law to put him behind bars. When that doesn't work out because of a sudden attack of integrity and the machinations of Geoffrey Lewis' corrupt lawyer ("We can always plead insanity later"), the loon naturally goes after Bronson's semi-estranged daughter (Lisa Eilbacher), who luckily has enough scantily-clad roommates to keep him and his `penis-substitute' knife occupied until the cavalry can arrive in time for one last pre-kill one-liner.

It's genuinely sleazy and seedy (Bronson even gets to wave a sex toy around in one interrogation scene), and not in a good way, revelling in its clumsily voyeuristic slasher movie aesthetic while getting on its high-horse for crude bumper sticker moralizing - "I remember when legal meant lawful. Now it means some kind of a loophole" and "Forget what's legal and do what's right." It's also, Bronson aside, almost uniformly badly acted and shoddily made: this isn't guilty pleasure bad, just bad bad, and dreary with it. Shoddy stuff, it's no surprise to discover that Cannon sold this purely on the title and Bronson's name before they even had a story and then scrambled to find a script they could knock out as quickly as possible.

No extras on the PAL DVD, but the US NTSC DVD includes the trailer.
