Wide Awake is a heart-warming story with balanced moments of humour and sentiment.

The music in the film also reflects the two differing moments very well, most importantly fitting perfectly with M. Night Shyamalan's type of storytelling and directing, Edmund Choi does almost as good a job as James Newton Howard has with Night's latest films.

The movie that M. Night Shyamalan made after this was 'The Sixth Sense' and you can see some resemblance between these two films because of the theme of death and afterlife -but dealt with in completely opposite ways.

What Night normally does in his films is disguise the real deep human story with a supernatural event or myth - 'The Village' being the most evident of this.

Instead this film does not go by those rules and the human story is dealt with at face value, although it does turn quite spiritual towards the end.

In conclusion, Wide Awake is another M. Night Shyamalan classic on a simpler scale.
