Product Description

Album Description

Rinaldi Sings play a stylish and uptempo brand of pop that acknowledges a deep debt to the orchestrated bubblegum Northern Soul of the late Sixties. Their debut single, ‘Avenues & Alleyways’, is a revamping of Tony Christie's classic theme tune to Seventies cult TV show, ‘The Protectors’. While some compare Rinaldi Sings to Sixties pop icons such as the Love Affair and The Foundations, others critics point to similarities with My Life Story and the Divine Comedy. An interesting mix that make certain that sharp-suited singer/songwriter Steve Rinaldi is destined for stardom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rinaldi's heart is in the right place, 24 Jul 2004
I consider myself as having an open mind when it comes to cover songs. I am also a rabid U.S. Tony Christie fan. I ordered this single without having heard Rinaldi's cover of the ultimate Christie song. Rinaldi updates the classic anthem with a modern sophistication, and class befitting the beautiful though cheesy tune. But I actually believe that "Lucky Day", is the real feature of the single. Both of the songs are like a musical time machine to a place were music is hip and knows how to swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murf, 15 Jul 2004
By A Customer
Avenues & Alleyways is a catchy cover which accurately conveys Rinaldi Sings' sound. The "A" track is ably supported by the upbeat and bubbly "Lucky Day" where Rinaldi's vocals are delivered in a "to camera" style which brings Michael Caine's Alfie to mind. Combining brass with guitar and percussion, Rinaldi Sings produce a sophisticated sound which is a reassuring antidote to much of today's manufactured dross.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab & Groovy!, 21 Jul 2004
Rinaldi Sings have to be one of the most exciting bands to have appeared in 2004. Shunning the miserable earnestness of rock, Steve Rinaldi and his crew have injected a touch of tongue-in-cheek show biz charm into the music biz, coupling a slew of big and brassy retro grooves with some good old-fashioned showmanship. And on top of that, the pop tunes are FABULOUS - as in FAB & GROOVY, as in FAB 208! Get the picture? His singing style may be as broad as Michael Caine singing about the 'Self Preservation Society', but the orchestrated tunes are as refined as the Divine Comedy and destined to be very big indded. So get a bloomin' move on - and get this before everyone else does!
