5.0 out of 5 stars You'll love this one!, 2 Mar 2004
Following the phenomenal success of "Neighbours from Hell", the first reality TV show for the PC, comes the second series “Neighbours from Hell 2 – On Vacation”. The star of the show, Woody, has to raise the viewer ratings by berating his neighbour. The neighbour has decided to take a vacation for a well earned break. As Woody you must once again try to set up booby traps and play pranks on the neighbour. You’ll make his holiday one he’ll never forget… But this time, there’s a supporting cast of characters to upset and annoy including the neighbours mother, a huge woman called Olga and her son, mothers dog Fifi and many others. They enhanced many features from the first part, e.g. now you can really drive the neighbour into madness (some excellent animations on that!), no time limitation (but bonus points if you quickly finish an episode), more music, harder puzzles and so on. All in all this results in more playing time & fun then the first part! I’ve just played the first few episodes, but I can clearly tell you: This is a WINNER!!! Just BUY it (you won’t regret)… :o)

By A Customer
Think about this for a second. In the normal world can you make people slip on soap into the sea? Or saw some wood on a balcony and get them electrocuted? If you wish you could do this to say....YOUR NEIGHBOUR!!!Play this game to wind up your evil neighbour and make him get beaten more times than a geek in a maths test!

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical Sequel, 18 Jul 2004
By S. Robb - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Neighbours from Hell 2 is simply what youd expect of a sequel. The first game was really innovative but they have tried to be too clever with the 2nd one and they just havent made a good enough job of it.
The animation is much better, its still not a proper 3D environment but you do get a better perception of depth than the original with proper shading this time. The main problem I find with it is that they have done away with the ratings scheme which i thought was novel. That has now been replaced with a series of grey circels at the top of the screen, every time you complete a trick, you fill in a space with a gold coin. You get all the coins in quick succession, you get the gold statue as the neighbour goes crazy. You find yourself just wanting to complete the level rather than making a good job of it because there is no incentive this time. With the original, you find yourself going over episodes again and again. You plan everything so carefully, and come the final trick...you end up with 97%...have a small tantrum, but go back to have another stab at it. Not the case at all with this one.

There are new characters ie Olga, her son and the neighbours mum which does make it interesting but again, trying too hard to make it better than the original. The mother doesnt get involved as much as youd like. She stands up, goes for a little walk then goes back to sleep. They have done away with the "sneak" past animals coz they are all thick as mince now which means you are less careful. Olga does virtually nothing and her son isnt even worth mentioning. The puzzles are MUCH harder now. The original was very simple to work out what you were doing, but this one will have you scrathing your head...or going to gamefaqs.com for a walkthrough. Although they are not as complex, these puzzles are more like the monkey island style where you use 2 objects together on a 3rd object to get the desired outcome.

Finally, in the original, you had to sometimes find ways to distract your neighbour as some tasks took longer to perform than others (ie sawing through char legs). In this game, all tasks are done instantly except for some where you have to try and keep the pointer as close to the centre of a green circle as possible. If you hit the walls, it alerts the neighbour...but since you are given 3 lives per level, you can afford to get a kicking twice.

Overall...good attempt, but I personally expected more. New characters usually improves things but not quite as good. I loved the 1st game and spent AGES coming back trying to get 100% per episode...........you just dont get that with this version unfortunately.
