The essential factor for shredding is motor power. For this reason, all Bosch Quiet Shredders have high-torque "High-Power" motors. They will shred your woody garden waste at only 84 dB(A), much more quietly than conventional blade shredders, which is why they have been awarded the "Blue Angel" environmental mark. They automatically draw in and shred the branches into pieces optimal for composting. Which Bosch Quiet Shredder you choose will largely depend on the size of your garden and the thickness of the accumulating branches and shrubbery.

Nature gives back whatever your garden needs, as well as giving you the pleasure of nurturing growth with your own hands. Fresh, brown earth is the raw material of the garden, and you can make it yourself with a Bosch Quiet Shredder.

The AXT 2200 HP has a recoil-free cutting drum that automatically draws in the branches and shreds them at a quiet 84 decibels, without the noise of a conventional 3000 rpm impact shredder at 105 decibels. The 40 rpm cutting drum and the self-feeding effect increases material throughput to approximately 140 kg per hourThe cut and crushed nature of the shredded material will provide the most ideal host environment for organisms to break down garden waste into quality compost.

�240 is a lot of money to turn large bits of wood into small bits of wood, but this is value for money.

If, like me, you've bought one of those �70 "value" shredders, you probably never want to shred another piece of wood again. What with all the forcing the branches in, declogging it, opening up to remove blockages and so on, it really is hard work. The design was poor and the application even worse. Quite frankly, i've got better ways to spend my Sundays.

This machine works on a different principle and features what looks like a large cog which draws the branches in and crushes them against a metal plate. This produces around 1cm sized chunks of wood.

It's spectacular on large, long branches and was shredding them (without my 'help') faster than i could cut them off the tree. It struggles a little bit more on leafy stuff simply because there isn't the bulk to be drawn into the shredder.

The one teeny-weeny problem is that it could do with being higher off the floor because it fills garden bags so quickly.

If you're looking for a shredder, strongly consider this. Its expensive, but don't make the false economy of buying a cheap one just because you don't think you'll use it that often - you'll just end up wasting your time and money.

This is a serious bit of rugged kit. One gets the feeling that it has been designed. It is sturdy in use yet readily mobile. If necessary it can be lifted. It really is quiet. The electrics operate through a beefy pair of switches fed by a quality cable. The bag is just the optimum size so that when it is full, it can be carried and emptied without busting a gut. The shredding rate is just about right for the operator to continuously pick up stuff and feed it into the machine. First class! I would also recommend the Wilkinson Sword 220134 loppers to go with it as they both have similar cutting capacities.

I have to say not being a power tool person that it works like a dream, I had a rather large and intimidating mound of cuttings from last year, (one of those never got quite round to finishing jobs!) the shredder worked like a trooper. The branches and twigs were a little soggy and the snails made a bit of a crunch but went through(I tried to remove most of them). It jammed a couple of times but I just reversed the blade and hey presto it's going again. As a Sunday morning hangover gardener the 'Quiet' shredder does the business!!!
