5.0 out of 5 stars They are Back !!, 9 Sep 2003
This review is from: The Promise (Audio CD)
After 6 long years,Earth,Wind and Fire fans are to be treated to a superb feast of catchy classy tracks that will remind them of the 'I Am' and 'Faces' days. The album starts with upbeat 'All in the way', followed by the even better 'Betcha'. I don't think there is one bad track on this album which varies in tempo, from classic EWF slowies to the samba influenced 'Never' and includes their sharp distinct Brass backing from the Horn section.
This will be one of those albums that will be a 'must have' for all music lovers.
all i can say is "buy it!!!"
Brass it Up

3.0 out of 5 stars It's all there, 4 Nov 2003

This album has a couple of tracks originally done for the 'I am' album, but not used at the time. 'Where do we go from here' and 'Dirty' would not have fitted with the rest of that great album, but this does not mean they are not quality tracks in their own right and probably the best on this album. The rest is reasonably good, though not outstanding by their standards. No great surprises but Maurice White's vocals are still as good as ever, not bad for a sixtysomething, and Phil can still hit those high notes pretty effortlessly. Worth it if you are a fan.
