Great little camera, very pleased with it... .. ., 26 Jun 2004
My C-310Z arrived today, and after spending some time playing around with it's settings, using the supplied software etc, I believe I've spent my cash wisely. Smaller than I'd expected, and not too heavy, this camera is impressive. I'm not big into photography, and only really bought one because, well, every 2nd person seems to have a digital camera nowadays, and I've tired of packing "a couple" of disposables with me on holidays anyway:) But I have an eye for quality and detail, and after searching the net for some info, and reading MANY reviews, they reflect my opinion exactly, i.e. this is a great little camera, and does it's job perfectly. Somebody mentioned the digital zoom is 3x, this is actually 4x... .. . Referring to the user manual, the included 16mb XD card (which is far too small) will store between 6 and 165 pics (approx), taking into account image settings. It'll hold 20 pics on the HQ setting (2048 x 1536), and any I took on this turned out very well (indoors & outside). All were clear & sharp, full of detail, and the colours looked exactly like I expected them to be. When they are transferred to the pc, the quality really shows up... .. . I believe battery life is an issue with all digital cameras, so I purchased a Sony NiMH battery charger set in my local Homebase store, and as the C-310Z only requires 2 x AA's, I can have the other 2 recharging in the backround... .. . After ordering the camera, I added 2 x 64mb XD cards to my Visa. This is a lot of memory, but my plan is not to drain battery life by using the camera to browse through the pics, deciding which ones can be deleted/kept etc. I intend to fill all the memory up, upload the images to the computer, and make my choices there.. .. . Well that's all I have to say, I'm glad I chose this camera, as it's my first step into the digital photography world, and it's been pleasent so far. Yes, batteries will not last as long as you'd like them to, but if you let the camera decide when the flash is needed, they will last that bit longer. If I have only one gripe, it is that Olympus didn't include a pouch to store the camera in... .. . Hopefully this review was of some help to someone... .. . MiK ;)
