I am not usually one to write reviews as opinions are, idiosyncratic, subjective, a personal response to the given sensory experience.

If your musical preferences are for the 1500 -1700's then this is a vibrant and soul consuming CD of the works of Marin Marais, who has not achieved the modern audience that is so richly deserved.

Hille Perl's mastery of her instrument is natural, organic. There is no allusion of separation, musician and instrument are one.......totality incarnate, truly moving. For me this CD needs to be enjoyed alone or in quiet company, like all art it needs and demands sensory exclusivity to fully appreciate the subtle changes in mood state each movement offers.

The reviewer is right (though MM is better known that he thinks!) - wonderful intimate atmosphere. Each phrase articulated brillantly - not every piece is MM's best music but as a recital it's splendid.
