Jill Sobule, a multi-talented singer-songwriter from Ney York, deserves to get known better in Europe! Having toured with Lloyd Cole in 2001 (as the opening act AND acclaimed guitar player in his band "The Negatives"), she has returned to Europe this year touring with Billy Bragg and is winning a lot of new fans by her both energetic and passionate performances.

"Pink Pearl", the latest of four studio albums she's done so far has been released for the European market in March 2004. This album features a variety of great melodies, sometimes smooth and sometimes rocking tunes. By her witful lyrics which vary from tongue-in-cheek funny issues to sensitive and melancholic moods, she tells interesting stories that make the listener think about.

Pink Pearl is the best studio album Jill Sobule has released so far and it's a MUST for everyone who likes well-done singer-songwriter music more than the mainstream pop which rules the charts. By The way, "Pink Pearl" is a fantastic taster for the next album Jill Sobule is planning to release later this year. Check her music out!

What you get on this album is Peter DiStefano playing his guitar and singing some songs. There is nothing that really stand out, but none of the songs are bad. The guitar work is pretty efficient and there are some pyrotechnics, but generally speaking the album is all fairly american radio friendly mid tempo rock...

You can see why DiStefano is a guitarist and not a lead singer on several tracks - although his voice is fairly pleasent it is never going to bring much power or emotion to a song.

This album is one for sticking on in the car when you aren't really interested in really listening to music and just want something to while away the time whilst concentrating on the road.

As I said it's not bad but it certainly isn't great in my opinion 6/10
