Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

An ideal gift for any keen gardener, the Bahco Laplander folding pruning saw is a favourite tool of many professional gardeners. Lightweight and comfortable in your hand, it features a folding blade with a special non-stick coating that helps it glide through branches and even small logs with surprising ease. Bahco's special XT toothing allows the Laplander to cut in both directions meaning that you are cutting on both the "push" and "pull" cutting movements.

Only 230mm (9") long when folded and weighing just 175 grams (6oz), the saw is small enough and light enough to be included in your pack if you are going camping or finishing and performs as well 'in the wild' as it does in the garden, easily cutting through the toughest of woods, bone and many other materials. The high-quality Sandvik steel blade locks in place when opens and folds away safely when you're not using it.

Product Description

The Laplander Folding Pruning Saw has a thicker blade with a friction reducing coating and BAHCO XT Toothing.
It is best suited to general cutting along or across the grain.

By Rachel Lowles (Dereham, Norfolk United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I will admit that I bought this saw befor it was available on this site but It is great!!
I am not a gardener but a walker/camper who has found this saw invaluable. its strong, stays sharp, cuts through wood like butter and fits nicely into a small rucsack. Well worth the money

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, 15 Jun 2006
The Bahco Laplander saw is one of those tools that I'd recommend as useful to anyone! I use mine around the garden for pruning and light lopping, for rough cutting in DIY and also out and about as a real godsend whilst collecting firewood. An axe is the traditional tool to take wilderness camping, but this pruning saw will arguably make things even easier. In extreme emergencies it could even save your life. I've seen Ray Mears use this very saw, and for good reason - it's high quality, light, easily stowable, sharp and safe to use. Beware of inferior Far Eastern look-alikes, this is the best. Highly recommended for gardeners and explorers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best folding saw, 27 Feb 2007
By Jim Wolf "Jimxorb" (London/England) - See all my reviews
After buying a cheap Faithfull folding saw (cheap in quality, not in price if I am honest) and breaking it after cutting about 5 bits of wood in the great outdoors, (it was sharp but the blade just snapped, not very impressive) I decided to buy the saw that Ray Mears himself uses- the Bahco Laplander. Bahco is one of the best tool makes there is, it is Swedish and their build quality and comfort of use is second to none in my oppinion. So I bought my Laplander, it is brilliant, very sharp, top notch quality, attractive to look at and very comfortable to hold. It is also very strong, it has seen some hard use and I have yet to damage a tooth and the blade has shown no signs of getting blunt and I don't see it snapping in the near future, this saw has an idiot proof locking mechanism also. One thing I will say is this: Don't rely on the leather strap, due to it being leather the knot can undo itself if you have this attached to your belt, you can change the knot though so this is not a major concern.

Wish I had bought this years ago. Very useful in tight situations and probably quicker to cut through small branches than a bowsaw. I love it.Bahco 396 Lap Laplander Folding Saw

5.0 out of 5 stars I SAW it, I bought it (pun)
Robust, rugged, smooth to use, positive lock/unlock/fold action. Comfortable to use, no wonder this is the only one Ray Mears recommends. Low friction blade is also a nice touch.
