5.0 out of 5 stars A worthy sequal, 1 Jun 2004
By J. Robinson "mr_jackdaw" (Lancaster, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The main problem with the first project zero game was the difficulty level - later in the game it got just too hard.

With the second game they have addressed this balance well and produced a game that is still not easy to play, but does not punish you quite so badly.

I won't talk about the plot - read the manufacturers description above!

They have taken all the best elements of project zero I - and improved them. The graphics are very high quality and a suspension of disbelief is not far away. The key, however, is the sound effects. Turn that sound right up! Initially they sound poor, then they slowly get under your skin promoting the most frightening atmosphere in a computer game I have ever met.

And that is the best word to describe this game - atmospheric. Everything - from the sounds, gaphics and even menu layout - is designed to promote the atmosphere.

The pace is deliberately slow, so if you're used to high-octane survival horror don't bother. However - if you like a good plot and have some patience, this is your game.

5*

5.0 out of 5 stars ... The Crimson Ritual ..., 14 Aug 2004
This game will leave you absoultly chilled and you wont want to sleep alone for awhile. The games has amazingly realistic graphics and FMV sequences that look like there taken out of some movie or even real life. The story has that exact same thrill to it. One of the best horror games yet, better than resident evil. However if you liked resident evil, you'll love this.

You take the position of a pair of japanese twins name Mio and Mayu. The main character Mio is the elder sister of Mayu. It starts off when Mayu and Mio are walking through a forest where unbeknownst to them they pass a guardian stone. Thats where they first see the Lost Village...

I'm not going to say anymore as it may spoil it for you waiting players. But i can tell you its a great game, great graphics and FMV sequences making you feel the horror and fear they must feel, a great story that will leave you wanting to know more and more and gameplay with many mysteries and frights that will leave you thinking.

This is the best horror game i have ever played. However i have yet to play the first one. After i'm done with this i know what im getting.

My final say is buy it it is one of the best games i have seen in a very long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best survival horror out there, 3 Jun 2004
By A Customer
The story of this game is absolutely engrossing. You are a little girl with a twin sister trapped in a lost village. The pieces of notes you gather throughout the game plus the lavish cut-scenes alone can keep you on the edge of your sit worrying about what's the destiny of our cute heorines, assuming they can survive till the end. This is besides the horrors of all the ghosts and atmosphere which is really scar. The graphic is sharp and rich and the sound effect is so awsome. The gameplay is quite sophisticated. There are various film type and power ups available. You have to aim for the shot, and the better you aim and time, the more points you get. You can then use the points to upgrade your camera obsura. You can also have a shot at many non-hostile, but fast fading ghosts to boost up your points. A little RGP element is nice, especially when the upgrades and items are carried to another game.
The game has high replay value as well. Various customs unlock. Missions mode (not taken form some part of the game) to complete particular objective. To complete an additional chapter on hard mode unlocked after playing the game once to view a better ending. And a nightmare mode after that as well. The game took about 50+ hours for a go including reload time, if you try to explore everything and without help. There are many places which you can visit quite a few times to get extra items/points.
