By A Customer
What can I say, I watched this film today I still cant stop crying and laughing what a film there is nothing more to say! FANTASTIC BRILLANT Ian Michael Smith was brillant and so cute! aswell as Joseph Mazello, I cannot believe that it is not yet released over here as soon as the film was over I got straight onto the website and was so dissapointed to see it was not released HURRY UP these two boys deserve OSCAR'S for there roles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simon Birch - A welcome surprise... a great escape, 13 Jun 2004
By A Customer
I've literally just watched 'Simon Birch - aka A Small Miracle' on Five in an attempt to escape from Euro 2004 TV etc. (One could argue that it was an accident - but then again, "there are no such things as accidents" as the film suggests - Hmmmm...) Anyway, I was incredibly moved by this film - and while it engaged a wide range of emotions, it wasn't heavy-handed or maudlin in any way. The soundtrack was enjoyable but not intrusive. Both lead characters were played with integrity and enthusiasm by Ian Michael Smith (as our eponymous hero) & Joseph Mazzello as his best friend, Joe. I couldn't feel pity for either lead - I don't think the viewer was supposed to, because in spite of their circumstances - THEY HAD EACH OTHER and truly recognised the value and depth of their friendship, which was more than could be said of some of the other pathetic narrow-minded townsfolk.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover and freely admit, that for me this is one of those special films that made me feel GENUINELY GLAD that I saw it, accidentally or not - and that it has something precious to say to ALL OF US.. if we would just be willing to listen. I LOVED this film, but make up your own minds. And Joseph, if you are reading this - well done!! I sincerely hope we see more of your work in future. Gotta go, I'm off to pre-order my DVD copy.

(REAL NAME)
What a moving film. I literaly switched off the tv and phoned one of my mates howling as the film was so sad! Its a very sad story of the most lovely little boy (Simon Birch) who really just wants to be loved. A must see!
