5.0 out of 5 stars Toxic: Britney's Best, 15 Feb 2004
By M. J. BAIN "Mike" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Toxic from Britneys latest album, in The Zone is by far her best single and the accompanying video will blow you away.

After a small bang of a return with the mediocre "Me Against the Music"
Britney pulls a little secret out of her "Zone" and its "Toxic" thats for sure.

In the video, we start off with some spectacular CGI in which we zoom into a jet and into the cabin, where we focus on a blonde airhostess in a very very revealling dress from the rear view. She places her hand on the telephone next to her and on spinning round, its Britney!
What follows is some hi-jinx in the aircraft including dancing in an "Air Hostess emergency instructions" style and spilling of champagne and dabbing of-trousers. Then a steamy bathroom scene comences where Britney corners an ugly, fat man, whos face she removes to reveal a younger model who she seduces in the toilets and obtains a device from.

Then with some supercool camerawork we zoom across the screen to a red haired britney in a wonderful CG created Paris with eiffel tower light up in the background. Commence Scene Britney a la Bristow. Yes there is some definate Jennifer Garner influence here where Britney is picked up by Tyson Beckford on a nifty bike as they zoom through Paris at night (with more REAL special CGI here) before Britney promptly does a nice old CG backflip off the bike, before recollecting herself and flinging a bomb at a building labelled "Toxic Industries" All the while we have some lovely short pans to a bleach blonde britney covered only in Diamonds while rolling around the screen. When we return to Britney Bristow shes walking through a spectacular CG explosion and the unlocking a door. Then some neato mirror effects and camera works sees Britney A La Bristow finally stealing her "toxic" potion, but uh oh! She gets detected on her way out and the laser beams activate. And here she goes into Bristow overdrive, combining all of sydneys high kick ass moves and flips to dodge the laser beams in a dance fashion. And we even get a shot of Britney spinning around placing a finger on her lips for "hush" with her red wig cascading with her, and thats pretty much Sydney Bristow in every Season 1 promo ever.
Then after a few more laser dodges, Bristow Britney smashes a window bigtime and we are introduced to the "Hey its Mandy Moore!" Britney with a dark raven haired wig on using suction pads to scale a building. Before fipping over the outside of the building, down the roof and into an apartment, pausing for a spectacular shot of her, being hot. She spots her victim, grabs him by the belt flings him onto the ground, gives him a good snog, then finally drops her "Toxic" potion into his mouth, closing it to give him the kiss of death and then she runs outside, jumps off the building and then when she turns around, its back to Blonde Hostess Britney! Who gives us a nice little wink before we zoom out, and its back to the birds flying behind the stunning CGI Airjet.

Video Review
5/5
The best music in Britneys career, and by far the best in the past five years. Wonderful, expensive, lavish and bang up to date.

Song Review:
Toxic is the second track to be taken off Britneys best seller "In the Zone" and its a corker. Anyone who strayed from Britney or think shes corny or rubbish won't be able to resist her "Toxic" concuction with this sleek, smooth, stringy track that is like a hybrid of "Baby Boy" by Beyonce and "Diirty" from Christina. Arguably the best track on the album.
5/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot,Wicked and more than just TOXIC, 14 Feb 2004
By A Customer
What can I say...
If you haven't yet seen this cool and hot video then switch over to the music channels.
Already this song is quite popular and on DVD the world just got a lot better.
Toxic contains a brilliant beat and an excellent dance track.

In the album 'In the Zone' I must admit this track is one of the best from it...

As Britney is now older and naughtier little Ms.Spears is becoming a more brilliant artist than ever before.

Let's just hope it gets into the UK Top 40!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 14 Feb 2004
By A Customer
all i can say is, WOW!!! This is the best Britney song in a long time, so sexy and easy to dance to. Its is her first top 10 track in the Billboard chart since 2000, with 'Lucky', and her fastest climber since 'Oops! I did it again', showing she is back on her game! Buy this and you won't regret it! Its one of the best, if not the best, song on her album, her album is brilliant too!!
