The pop-song score is often accused of being little more than ancillary merchandising for many a film and the supporting evidence is often hard to deny. But this well-chosen collection of modern rock and metal for director Jonathan Hensleigh's adaptation of the vengeance-obsessed Marvel Comics anti-hero is a gratifying exception--apt sonic seasoning for the film's bleak, contemporary edge. The thrash of Hatebreed, Chevelle and the new Drowning Pool lineup and tracks by more established acts such as Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback and Queens of the Stone Age (who turn in a smart, chunky cover of Romeo Void's rock-of-the-80s staple, "Never Say Never") alone would make it a welcome rock-metal sampler. But its 19 tracks also include an intriguing range of lesser known bands and one-off collaborations (Seether and Amy Lee, Jerry Cantrell and Damageplan, Ben Moody / Jason Miller / Jason "Gong" Jones), all bristling with a dark, moody energy that perfectly echoes the film's dour, relentlessly violent tone. -- Jerry McCulley, Amazon.com

This album is a fab listen. I haven't seen the film yet, and have to admitI bought the CD purely for the Seether/Amy Lee track as I'm a big fan. Butthe rest of the CD impressed me; there r some fab tracks, mostly the kindyou'll wana scare the neighbours off with by playing LOUD! But also acouple of more mellow songs.
I also find this CD good for when I'm madwith my man!

This was another pleasant surprise!

All the usual suspects here, I know, but they are all SO good! Newies from:
Smile Empty Soul - same style of Nirvana/Alice In Chains with a modern twist
Trapt - possibly the best song on the album, awesome chorus. Their best song. Period.
Edgewater - Nice: Foo Fighters with a less poppy-sound.
Finger Eleven - Exactly what you'd expect from F11. Awesome!
Seether - new version of "Broken", with the addition of Amy Lee (Evanescence) bringing some great vocals to the song.
Drowning Pool - New singer does great!! New album in April! Can't wait!

Submersed, Seven Wiser, Atomship - Wind-Up's new signings all bring across excellent songs. New albums soon, should be checked out.

Get this album if you want to try these bands out. Excellent initiation into their works. Well worth the money.

Being a massive fan of the comic book then, first hearing about this move a year ago I have been waiting eagerly for its release. I have heard the majority of the songs for this album on www.punishermusic.com, and from what I have heard it is going to be amazing. It is very much similar to the daredevil soundtrack, but also in many ways different. It is mostly rock music, apart from the Mark Collie ballad at the end, which is taken directly from the film (OH! What an entertaining scene that is going to be!). I highly rate the Seether featuring Amy Lee track, and the Drowningpool track, which will be familiar to those who have seen the trailers. Wrestling fans are also in for a treat as one of the tracks is one of the more popular wrestlers entrance theme.
On the whole if you are a fan of the film, comics, or even just rock music on the whole I would highly recommend this CD.
