Amazon.co.uk Review
The second series of Dawson's Creek finds Dawson (James Van Der Beek) and Joey (Katie Holmes) exploring the newest phase of their lifelong friendship, leaving Jen (Michelle Williams) and Pacey (Joshua Jackson) on the outside. The former enters a downward spiral assisted by bad girl Abby (Monica Keena), but Pacey happens into a "meet cute" with one of Capeside's new residents, the impossibly perky Andie (Meredith Monroe), who turns out to be his perfect foil. The Creek also struck gold with its second major addition, Andie's brother Jack (Kerr Smith), who shows Joey that he's more than just a clumsy waiter. With the siblings' help, Pacey and Joey show the most personal growth during the season's 22 episodes.

The constant parent-child crises can be a bit much, but there were numerous other developments, including a two-part sexual whodunnit, Dawson embarking on his second movie (assisted by Rachael Leigh Cook in a sizzling guest appearance), Dawson's birthday party from hell, a vicious rumour that spreads through the high school, and the emotion-wringing finale.

The only bonus feature is a commentary track on the first and last episodes just as with the first season, though executive producer Paul Stupin is by himself rather than accompanied by creator Kevin Williamson. The interplay is missed, but Stupin enthusiastically offers a lot of information about how the cast had become celebrities by the second season and had to juggle other projects and random details and trivia. Stupin mentions how carefully he selected different pieces of music, which "would become forever part of our show." That's ironic because for this DVD set Stupin himself picked a lot of new music to replace the selections that originally aired, presumably because of the cost involved in securing the rights (a problem for many television DVD releases). A couple of episodes are unaltered, but others have had almost every song replaced. Newcomers to the series probably won't notice, but serious fans may want not want to tape over their video cassettes just yet. --David Horiuchi

5.0 out of 5 stars not one episode will disappoint, 9 Mar 2004
I only started watching Dawson’s at the beginning of season two, and while i have now caught up and watched all of season one and everything through to the end, I think season two remains my favourite. While the first season had such a freshness and edge to it, much like the new approach to the fifth season, and the third had great writing at it's character-driven plots, season two is the one which really projected the show into a stand-out intelligent, honest, touching and invariably witty drama. To be honest I think I like this season the best due to it being so fun.
There are some truly serious important issues, which are handled excellently by the show, including Jack's sexuality, Andie's mental health and the ever- changing and varied relationships teenagers have with their parents. However in reflection, looking at all of the season’s which followed, I can now see that this season was the one which allowed the characters to get past the initial awkwardness of becoming a teenagers (in season one) and let their hair down.
The season has a formulaic approach, as each episode is distinguished by the whipped up melodrama of the week, and even the rhythm of Kevin Williamson’s script is unavoidably attractive. I don’t mean the term ‘melodrama’ to be a negative in any way. As I’m sure you know, when your young, you do act like the situation your in at that moment is of life-or-death importance. Although the characters inevitable had to grow-up, slow down and for-the-love-of-god chill out (especially the ever talking Joey) I do like this season because they are so caught up in the moment.
The cast need no more recognition from me of how very talented they all are, particularly Michelle Williams, who shows the true fear of the teenage years in her subtly raw and exposing performance as Jen. Also Monica Keena provides great stir-up support as Abby Morgan.
For personal reasons ‘The all-nighter’ will forever… be special to me, and is one of the most fun in the whole show, ‘Election’ also is fantastic, actually now thinking of my favourite episodes I am starting to remember them all (basically not one disappoints)…the final three episodes provide a gripping and sensational season end.
I love the cast, the songs, the story’s the quotes, this season and the show. I fail to believe that anyone could watch this and not be touch or gripped by at least one aspect or moment. Buy this and you will not be disappointed.

Joey’ Growing up sucks, not all kisses are magical and most boys do not live up to your expectations. But there are those times when everything, I mean love, romance, relationships, it all falls together perfectly and it's incredible. It's those moments, no matter how depressingly few and far between, that makes growing up worth it and it will be okay.’

Jack-‘I often wonder if my mom knew what was going on with me whether she'd care…I don't think she would. That's how are parents should love us -unconditionally but as sad as it sounds most don't. But as hard as it is for us, it's worse for them; it is worse to be incapable of loving than to not be loved’

5.0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek at it's best!, 25 Feb 2004
If you enjoyed season one, then this will be a satisfying follow up. The teenage angst is overflowing and the all the characters have interesting storylines and complicated love issues! The introduction of Jack and Andie prove to be great characters and they soon become part of the existing group of Dawson, Joey, Jen and Pacey. Great episodes include: To Be or Not to Be... ...That Is the Question, A Perfect Wedding. In fact, they are all well written and i'm sure the audience will identify with a lot of the issues raised in the episodes. It's a shame that the following seasons didn't live up to the first two, but enjoy Dawson's Creek one and two on DVD and re-live the beautifully set teenage drama over and over...

5.0 out of 5 stars Dawson's Creek Season 2, 2 Mar 2004
By Sophie (England) - See all my reviews
It's finally here! For a girl who has been waitiing to watch the Joey/Dawson saga unfold once more, it is classic. Dawson angsts a lot more, Joey becomes even more sullen, Pacey gets a girlfriend (his own age this time), Jen and the infamous Abby Morgan become the trouble makers of little old Capeside. The show also brings to more characters in, Andie McPhee and her bro Jack. For those who missed it the first time round, you've got to buy it! Here is a little taster:

That certain teacher comes back
Something happens to the ice house
Joey's dad comes back
Someone dies
and whole lot more!
So buy it! so you can watch it over and over and over and over and over again...
