Michelle and Ryan are travelling from L.A to Florida, she's delivering the car they're driving for her father. They have to stop to get gas, here they meet the pervert owner Alfredo and a drifter trying to get home called Tex. After an altercation involving Tex and Alfredo, Michelle and Ryan speed off down a road not on the map that they were told about by Tex. Suddenly a huge vehicle is chasing them down, they almost hit an oncoming vehicle driven by Benny and both vehicles crash. Benny who escapes uninjured goes to check if Michelle and Ryan are okay, they tell him that they're being hunted down by a man in a mask with a chainsaw. He seems skeptical at first until they show him the chainsaw marks on their car, before long the three of them are fighting for their lives. They're being hunted by the Sawyer family, and they're after fresh meat.

I liked how the movie opens, similar to the first film with a narrator telling us about the events of the first film leading up to the present. It would have been great if they managed to get John Larroquette, this was rectified in the remake. The acting was very decent, Kate Hodge was possibly a little over the top at times, then again I've never witnessed a woman being terrorized by redneck cannibals first hand, so it might have been spot on. The support cast were fun, William Butler, Joe Unger, Tom Everett, Miriam Byrd-Nethery and Jennifer Banko play their roles well. R.A Mihailoff played Leatherface pretty well, there's a great moment where he's playing a word game and keeps putting food when it shows a person.

The main attraction in the film for me was Viggo Mortensen in an early role before he became famous, he had already appeared in Witness and Prison but was still pretty unknown.

I for one love slasher flicks and horror movies, especially the ultra gory ones. This certanly didnt come into the category of anything even remotley bloody or violent, it has some bloodnless scenes but not as much of an atmosphere as the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre film to make them disturbing or add effect. And i was shocked by the fact that on the back of this they describe this film as "the most controversial horror movie of all time". As this is barely violent OR well know.

Putting all of that aside this is actually a decent slasher film and is surprisingly well acted featuring some actors you might see in some more modern horror flicks.

Leatherface, the infamous and much loved horror icon, looks great in this Texas Chainsaw Movie and has the most incredible chainsaw!!!!

The story is basically the same as every other TCM film but does have a better cast and a more fast paced story as well as a very wel paced out story.

I would suggest most slasher fans watch this as its much better than the abysmal "next generation" Texas Chainsaw Massacre film and is a decent addition to a great slasher series.

Enjoy

I first saw this film while living in Georgia, U.S.A., in it's R-Rated (Restricted) version. For years thereafter I heard and read that a "stronger" version still existed. Now, with it's DVD release here in the UK, I am able to say that the rumours were true. The DVD is absolutely packed with extra features, including an outstanding, in-depth "making of" type documentary, as well as some pretty shocking deleted scenes. The only thing missing is the film's original trailers, quite surprisingly. The film itself is extremely well-acted, especially by the lead, Kate Hodge. It is however, not the most pleasant film you will ever see and if the filmmakers intended it to be a grueling and punishing experience, they definitely succeeded. Ken Foree, from the original Dawn of the Dead, is also superb in a key role. The script was written by a noted American horror novel writer, who specialised in "splatter" or over-the-top horror. This may give you some indication of the nature of the proceedings. The film doesn't entirely gel, probably due to the many cuts and all of the editing to comply with the censors, in order to secure a more mainstream release. Unfortunately, despite featuring several strong performances, excellent (and very gruesome special make-up effects!!) and stunt work supervised by Kane Hodder, who portrayed Jason Vorhees in several of the Friday the 13th films, the completed film is left damaged and confused in several key places. But, it is still one of the better entries in this particular series and is well-worth a look as a unique and interesting horror film. The DVD gives you the option of watching either the uncut (self-labelled X-rated) version or the cut version. There seems to be only about three or so minutes difference in the two version's running times, however.Read more ›

Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is a good film. The acting is a bit stiff but not too bad, except for an army guy who comes along who is just awful, it's when he comes in to it that this movie goes down hill fast. I feel if they went a realistic route then this film would be a 4 stars, but the ending for me ruined the entire film and really lets it down.

This film is worth a watch, I recommend watch the alternate ending in the special features to ease your mind. Why they didn't go with that ending I'll never know.
