Synopsis
Based on the graphic novel "Hokuto No Ken" by Buronson & Tetsuo Hara, this live-action sci-fi action epic is an apocalyptic adventure centring on a man who must reverse the cataclysmic conditions of his world. Nietzschean hero Kenshiro wanders the wastelands of a neo-medieval future. He also attempts to liberate his imprisoned lover from the wicked despot Lord Shin. Kenshiro carries with him the spiritual philosophy of his deceased father and hones his superhuman skills in preparation for metaphysical battles as well as mortal ones. His role as "Fist of the North Star" prescribes for him an awesome and profound challenge.

I accidently come across this title, lets just say i thought it was the manga version. But i realised it was a live action film, so i thought must be hollywood remake let's see if they make a mess of a classic, so i sat down and watched. my was i right! This film is dreadful! I am a fan of manga and especially fist of the north star and this remake is a joke.
The sets are really really small compared to the vast backdrops of the original (i know the original is cartoon and what not but still) and the effects are terribly poor and cheap.
The thing what really made me laugh was how they made people who got beat up die. I mean in the original heads exploded, people split in half and all sorts of crazy things, so any good film producer would look at this and think, 'i dont think we could remake this as the deaths are too over the top and are impossible to do in real life', but no, they had to have a pop good ol hollywood. The deaths were laughable not to mention the way the main actor did the killing, it was like he was dancing around them. It made me laugh, the trouble is it is not supposed to! Also, the cast in the film were poor, bad guys were fat, the good guy was pretty boy and as for malcolm mcdowell, what the hell was he doing in it, tremendous dent in his career!
I dont think this film even deserves 1 star.

very very poor,
shame on hollywood, they like ruining classics from japan and the far east dont they!

Never have I ever witnessed such a poor martial arts film in my life; not only are the sets used very cheap, but the acting is far worst, with the lead character (Gary Daniels) extremely wooden and painful to watch.

Having been a fan of the manga comic series and of the animated film, I was extremely disappointed after having wasted the best part of two hours on this C-movie (at best!). The fighting scenes are pitiful, with none of the flair or excitement of the traditional japanese animated series being translated to this film.

Avoid at all costs, as this film will leave you wishing you were blind!

A lot of the reviews on here seem to be referring to the Animated movie. This is not it. This live-action version is awful. One of the worst films ever made. Check out the IMDB rating. The animated version is great though. Look for that instead.
