Took a risk on this one after reading a review in Q magazine. Unknown quantity can always lead to the possibility of another cd stashed away at the bottom of the pile, never to be heard again.
However not with Mylab. What a welcome surprise I got as the album unfolded, revealing an eclectic mix of modern beats, some true musicianship, and groovy sounds galore. There's bits of jazz, chillout grooves, and some Zappa-esque brass arrangements, plus lots more.
Maybe not quite enough there for a perfect 5, but its growing on me by the day and I highly recommend it.
