Ok, so, Xiu Xiu do have some pretty good music on here (particularly I Luv the Valley OH!, Clowne Towne, Crank Heart and Little Panda Mcelroy) but the AWFUL lyrics, and the ridiculous singing completely ruin it all.

The worst song on the album, and quite possibly the worst song ever, is Support Our Troops OH!. Musically it is a boring and predictable sound collage with a (gasp!) spoken word monologue, lyrically it is a ludicrously stupid and hamfisted indictment of the Iraq war and the soldiers who fight there. It is impossible to put across how idiotic and arrogant Jamie Stewart calls a soldier a "stupid jock". A JOCK! I am opposed to the war but this song makes me embarrassed for the cause that someone thinks that something so awfully shallow and patronising and self-consciously "edgy" as this song is a valid anti-war statement.

the album on the whole is cheesy and predictable trying too hard to be different. my advice would be to get i luv the valley and clowne towne and leave it at that.
