DVD Description
A charming animated adaptation of EB White’s children’s classic which sees Charlotte the spider (voice of DEBBIE REYNOLDS) team up with Templeton the rat (voice of PAUL LYNDE) to save Wilbur the runt pig (voice of HENRY GIBSON) from a grizzly end. On hearing that Wilbur is about to end up on a plate, his best friend Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer that Wilbur is no ordinary pig and should be saved from slaughter. With Wilbur’s fate still unsure Charlotte spends all her time thinking of ways to save her best friend’s life. With songs by the Sherman brothers – Robert and Richard – and strong supporting cast voices adding to the superb voiceovers of the lead actors this is an endearing, heartbreaking and hugely watchable film.

A lovely film, based on the E.B. White book, with Debbie Reynolds as the singing spider Charlotte, who is a bit of a literary genius, protecting Wilbur the Pig from being slaughtered! The film has a nice message, as it encourages kindness to all living things.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY CHILDREN 20 YEARS AGO ON VHS, AND HAVE WATCHED IT WITH THEM MANY TIMES. THEY ARE ADULTS NOW, BUT THEY HAVE WATCHED IT RECENTLY ON DVD AND STILL ENJOYED IT AS WELL AS ME. IT'S A LOVELY FEEL GOOD FILM.

This is the original film of Charlotte's Web. The delightful music gives the film a wonderful atmosphere - if you hear the main song during the film while busy doing something else you HAVE to rush to watch. There are some lovely comic moments, especially when the rat overeats. Well worth a watch even if you love the remakes, and even if you are grown up.
