It is difficult to go into raptures about domestic appliances but these scales really are a great improvement over their (Hanson) predecessors. My chief reasons for saying this are:

1. Appearance - the design, with its all-glass top, really is swish compared with the previous white painted, metal lump.

2. Sensitivity- these scales will weigh to 0.1 kilograms (4 ounces in oldspeak), rather than the 0.25-kg. (1/2 pound) with the old scales.

3. Repeatability - the readings do not change if you re-wiegh yourself standing in a slightly different position. I believe this is due to having 4 weight sensors (strain gauges, presumably) - one at each corner.

4. Power source - these scales contain their own lithium-ion battery with a 5-year life. Our previous scales required 4 AA batteries that seemed to require changing at frequent intervals.

At the time of writing, Amazon are offering these scales at a greatly reduced price with free delivery. If you need new bathroom scales, I would advise you not to hesitate over these - they really are good.
