I first heard of this guy when I heard 'Amongst the Shadows' featuringCedric Bixler-Zavala on Radio 1. I was intrigued by the dark, brooding,somewhat unhinged sound of the song and decided to track the albumdown.
The majority of the album is kind of trip-hop but with a more sinister andethereal edge to it. Standard drum loops are interwoven with odd timesignatures and squealingly distorted, Nine Inch Nails-esque sounds;soundbites and samples are also used to good effect; these include apitch-altered reading of the definition of the word 'decomposition', asample of a man listing 'evil' musicians (including Michael Jackson twice,bizarrely), the aforementioned Bixler track and a couple of othercollaborations with rappers I've never heard of. In my opinion a very goodalbum; also one you can listen to on repeat over and over.
