Synopsis

Known as innovators in the hip-hop world, it isn't just Outkast's music that has raised their profile to the global stage. Some innovative videos have helped propel their off-beat visions into the homes of MTV viewers everywhere, with kooky promo's for songs like "Ms. Jackson," "Hey Ya!" and "So Fresh, So Clean." This compilation includes all of the aforementioned tracks, as well as highlighting their political leanings in the shape of "Elevators" and "B.O.B." "The Videos" perfectly illustrates the two sides of the band, with the visual flair of Andre 3000, and the more studied vision of Big Boi, represented in equal measures throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not good value, 10 May 2004
First up, this is very good. Secondly, it’s (probably) not worth buying.
Allow me to explain. There are only ten songs on the DVD, and the only real extra is a photo gallery that you’ll likely only look at once. Therefore the overall running time of the disc is on the slender side.
Now of the videos on there, some of them are all-time classic best video ever-type material. Ms Jackson and Hey Ya being the obvious examples. But also, these are or have been some of the most overplayed videos on the Music Television Channels - meaning that people who have the Cable or the SKY TV will really never want or need to watch them again. Conversely, if you only have the terrestrial TV and have only seen two minute clips of this stuff on TOTP or CD:UK, this is an essential purchase and you should buy it today.
For the hardcore OutKast fans, a chance to see the earlier stuff shouldn’t really be passed up either. But I would imagine a hardcore fan would have bought this on the day of release anyway.
For a casual fan, you’ll probably already know the best stuff here, but I suppose it could be a good taster, to see whether you’d like the older albums or not. And you can always watch to see what other bands’ videos stole Outkast’s ideas (D12’s Purple Hills being similar to Bombs Over Baghdad and Big Brovaz Nu Flow being The Whole World part II).
But overall, this is more the sort of DVD you’d watch at a mate’s house, than the sort of DVD you’d buy yourself, if you know what I mean. So buy it if you’re the sort of person who people come to your house to watch stuff :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Brill, 9 Jan 2004
By Dex (Yorkshire) - See all my reviews
This DVD is rare. But if you are lucky enough to see one, buy it.
The DVD contains two music videos: Hey ya, and the way you move.
The Hey Ya video is great, its a band all dressed in green, and every band member is Andre 3000. Its one of the best videos in 2003, and its a great song.
The way you move is also great, this is Big Boi's song not just as good as Andre's Hey ya, but still a good video.
Both songs are taken off the new album Speakerboxxx/The love below.
If you manage to get one, keep hold of it, it might be worth money one day!
Note that the DVD is NTSC so make sure your DVD player can play it. Its Great if you can play it though!

3.0 out of 5 stars Outkast with no friends, 23 April 2004
The DVD does show the evolution of the group but lacks strong language anyurban fan needs.
This MTV version of Outkast is good if you like themfor their videos and enjoy seeing that adorable puppy playing thepiano.
A true fan must own this, for the direction of the videos isgreat.
Outkast still are the coolest mother funkers on the planets.
