5.0 out of 5 stars The best release of 2003 now on vinyl., 23 Dec 2003

(REAL NAME)
Blemish has caused much discussion amongst Sylvian fans, some think it is too experimental, some think it is OK and a few love it. Since Sylvian and brother Steve Jansen covered the whole album during their recent tour, more fans have warmed to this album, especially the better tracks. This album is definately experimental and has probably tested the ear of most fans but for some listeners, the album is interesting on it's first play and becomes more addictive the more it is played. My advice would be to turn off the lights and give the first track your full attention and then let the rest of the album do it's work. If you can stay with it until the end, you are rewarded with a classic but do not skip any of the tracks, just let it play!

For collectors, there is a Japanese issue CD with a bonus track unavailable on any other format and now the vinyl release which will have to be cared for well in order to prevent surface noise from spoiling the ambience of this masterpeice. If you only like Sylvian's commercial work then leave this one alone but if you would like to take a journey in to his most personal and intriguing work to date then get out your credit card!
