The Xmas Factor is a collection featuring all 12 finalists from 2003's Pop Idol series, each getting a solo bite at the Christmas-classic cherry. Critics of the series may think it easy to dismiss the soon-to-be-forgottens but the truth is each of the finalists deliver a good performance and the group collaborations "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" and "On This Day" are good versions of great songs. There's very little in it, but highlights include Sam's charmingly warm "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and Susanne's wonderfully kooky "Santa Baby". Another song worth noting for a completely different reason is "I Believe" in which Brian sounds eerily like the silver-tongued cavalier of Christmas tunes, Sir Cliff Richard.

So all in all, The Xmas Factor is a really good collection of songs for the festive season--you might not want to listen to it in July but it'd be nice to think it might get dragged from the back of the CD rack for later Christmases. --Georgina Collins

A great album this, everyone is good but the two who really shine are Chris Hide and Michelle McManus (these two great artists would have been my choice for the final two, however now that Chris has been voted off by an incredibly daft 1% I hope he goes onto have a spectacular career - a truly nice guy).

For anyone who has watched the show-or should i say the hype-which is Pop Idol, then they'll know this album will be decent. Contestnts wittled down to 12 by the likes of Simon Cowell and Pete Waterman and then are put to the public to see who will be pop idol. The final 12 have made this album, Xmas Factor, certainly an album to buy. On Saturday 7th Decemeber, the final four performed songs from it, but all of the final 12 have a say in this album, and they have concocted a wiked collection.

Holy Night has to be the highlight of the album, with amazingly controlled vocals on such a hard song. It truely is beautiful, and so are many of the other tracks- All I want for Xmas, Last Xmas and many more.
My only disapointment is that the album can only be played at Xmas but it will be one to cherish for years to come.
A good 9.5/10 for the Idols- Good Show!

If your going to buy a Christmas album it may as well be this one. All 12 of the finalists shine in their single, a cover of John Lennons classic, 'happy Xmas.' For me the only disappontment was Suzi's rendition of Santa baby, this was mediocre at best. Sams version of Santa Claus is coming to town is very lively and full of energy and Michelle's rendition of holy night is spine tingling.
