I love this steamer. It's the best one on the market. This steamer has a major advantage over the Tefal steamer: most steamers' baskets are numbered so that you can quickly put the baskets inside one another for compact storage. With the Tefal steamer, you also have to put the baskets in number order when cooking. The disadvantage to this is if your food in the bottom basket is cooked before the baskets above it, you can't simply remove the basket and replace the other 2 to continue cooking. Why? Because they don't fit!! Only the bottom basket fits on the drip tray of the steamer. A fundamental flaw in Tefal's design, in my opinion. With the Kenwood steamer, the designers have clearly thought about this and each basket happily fits onto the steamer, so if your spuds are cooked before your salmon, no problem! Also, if you want to add more water during cooking, you can easily add it without disturbing the cooking (or risking hurting yourself on the steam, as with the Tefal).

We bought this steamer after our old Tefal steamer containers cracked (about 2 years use). It seemed excellent for a few months and then suddenly it didn't work any more. Yes it still produced steam but not as much. After 45 minutes of steaming potatoes were still hard and veg uncooked. I can't actually see anything wrong with it but must say our water is extremely hard and I wonder if some small hole inside the steamer has become blocked. I shall try a scale remover on it and see if that restores it to working order.
