Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

While writing a series of articles about horrible murders in the Low Side District of New York, the young reporter, Jimmy Palmer, will soon become involved in a game of cat and mouse with an illusive and deadly character--Jack the Ripper. Along Palmer's dark journey he will foster a friendship with a young singer, Abigail, the "Irish Nightingale," and meet numerous other colorful characters of this poor district.

Beginning with the search of witnesses to the crimes, Palmer's snooping will soon lead him to investigate suspects. His daily editorials trigger the interest of the serial killer himself, who begins to correspond with Palmer via the newspaper, leading Palmer to surmise that this killer is the infamous Jack the Ripper!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jack the Ripper, 1 Nov 2004
By A Customer
This is an excellent adventure game which as well as using the standard point, click and play, also has some great action clips and along with the interaction with other characters, never makes you bored. The game itself can be a little frustrating at times, you may think you are stuck but it just means you need to visit all the locations again and talk to everyone. I think that I would have liked more clues and not such an abrupt ending but I figure this is just a cunning way of keeping us waiting for the sequel. All in all a really enjoyable game. HOWEVER!!! I would urge anyone purchasing it, to save their game in a new slot at the start of each new day (there are 12 days and nights in all). This is because this game is not without it's glitches and errors and does have a habit of getting stuck on the action clips. It is worth persevering as this game takes you through all the possibilities for the identity of the ripper and does keep you guessing. A warning though, don't expect it all to come to a nice conclusion at the end. As I have said, the only other criticism I have is that the end is rather abrupt and a little too quick. Have fun with it, you may just want to play it the once but that is true of a lot of adventure games with just one path to the conclusion. If you liked post mortem, you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game!!, 16 Feb 2004
I found myself stuck into the demo of this for hours, if anyone has played the X-Files game its similar to that. A good game perhaps not for every one but within the first few minutes of playing you will love it or hate it. You find youreself trapped inside the compelling storyline to find out who is "Jack the Ripper". Best to feed youre dog before-hand because once you start playing you won't stop.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, 22 Aug 2005
By Mrs. Nicola Le Page "Nicki" (Guernsey) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After reading the reviews that had been posted by other gamers on Amazon - I was very keen to play this game.
Unfortunately, the game did not live up to the 4.5 stars that it had so far received. The storyline was very disjointed and the actual gameplay was extremely simplistic with very little to pick up and do! I really feel that more of an effort could have been made when designing this game - as it could have been something really special.

I would advise people thinking about buying Jack the Ripper that there are much better games out there - that are also a lot better value.
