Manufacturer's Description

Norton AntiVirus 2004
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus 2004 is the world's most trusted antivirus solution--now with expanded detection of both known and emerging threats. Norton AntiVirus detects and removes viruses, worms and Trojan horses automatically--without interrupting your work. It works in the background 24 hours a day to protect e-mail messages, instant message attachments, Internet downloads and other files. Now it can also detect viruses in compressed file archives before you open them, reducing the risk of infecting your computer. Symantec's exclusive LiveUpdate technology automatically checks for new virus protection updates on a regular schedule to keep the program up to date against the latest threats. It now even alerts you when your virus protection is getting outdated.

Norton AntiVirus also defends your PC against emerging threats. Script Blocking intercepts fast-moving script-based viruses such as ILoveYou and Anna Kournikova, and Worm Blocking stops worms from using your outgoing e-mail messages to infect other computers. The expanded threat detection in Norton AntiVirus 2004 alerts you to the presence of spyware, keystroke loggers and similar programs that can steal personal information and leave your PC vulnerable to other attacks. Stop viruses and protect your PC with award-winning Norton AntiVirus.

Norton Personal Firewall 2004
Symantec's Norton Personal Firewall 2004 keeps hackers out and personal data in. Malicious Internet users are constantly looking for new ways to take control of your PC or steal your private information. Norton Personal Firewall works on multiple levels to defend against those threats. Right out of the box, this award-winning software hides your PC on the Internet so hackers can't see it. If an attack is launched, Norton Intrusion Detection automatically blocks it. New Web controls provide fast access to ad blocking and other program options from Microsoft Internet Explorer. Another new feature, Network Detector, allows you to set up different firewall rules for different wired and wireless networks, then automatically switches to the appropriate settings when you move your laptop from network to network.

Norton Personal Firewall also controls what goes out of your computer. Norton Privacy Control prevents confidential information from being sent out in email, instant messages, or Microsoft Office attachments without your knowledge. And Program Control lets you decide which applications can connect to the Internet, preventing spyware programs and Trojan horses from secretly transmitting data. To guard against emerging threats, Symantec's exclusive LiveUpdate technology automatically downloads new protection updates via the Internet. Small Office Packs for five or 10 users are also available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box!, 27 Jul 2004
By Mr. Naheem Ahmed "neembeam" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The bundle is really quite good, it works well with XP and anything windows 98 or below may have problems as the software needs a platform that is up to date in order for all drivers on it to function correctly.

The on screen visual is simple and easy to understand, a green tick means your ok and a red cross requires your attention - its that simple.

So come on! loosen those purse strings people!
I would say get Norton firewall this WILL protect all your financial details and give you piece of mind.

Draw back - your computer may take a little longer to start up (just wait 30 secs at the sign in screen!) but its worth the peace of mind. So far Norton has stopped 11 viruses and two attack attempts on my PC.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't touch it!, 10 Aug 2004
By A Customer
Having read the mixed reviews on this product I was some what nervous to try it. On my brand new laptop which matched the specifications for the product, I painstakingly installed the product and read all the instructions. The only problem was, when I turned my laptop back on, the system was so overwhelmed that it froze and all I could do was turn it straight back off again. After using a very helpful friend's laptop and spending 4 hours trying to use my laptop, I managed to use safe mode to remove most of the parts of the software. what they don't tell you is that neither of these packages have an facility to unistall the software so you have to do it manually. I followed the on-line guidance and after 5 hours I managed to remove 90% of the software. The other 10% it would not allow me to remove and so I have very irritating Novell error messages every time I turn it on. Not only that, but now, whilst I can connect to the internet via the modem, Internet Explorer will not work, returning a server error - Thanks Norton, for ruining my brand new laptop and wasting not only £30 on software I can't return, but now having to pay for someone to fix my brand new laptop!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars norton firewall bundle, 27 Mar 2004
Having read the reviews on this page is was sceptical about firstly ordering this product, and secondly installing it. However, istall it i did with no problems and within five hours of internet surfing it stopped it's first attack. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. No one should be without proper protection, especially when using broadband connections. My system uses XP home edition and Freeserve internet,
follow all the on screen instructions and you to should have hassle free installation.
