R300 PRINTING FROM COMPUTER, 14 Sep 2005
In reply to Bernard from Sidmouth (hope you get to see this) and to any other Epson R300 potential and existing users-Had the R300 since Jan 05 Printing from a computer is superb with the epson drivers supplied. I favour Adobe Photoshop, and the controls from within the print set-up are fantastic, Photoshop is quite expensive, but very good (try WWW.LIMEWIRE.COM before buying it anywhere though!). I use it both on Macintosh and PC. If you cant get photoshop then you could always put your pics from your pc onto a Zip drive and connect directly to the R300 (it works, I've tested it) or onto a cd and connect via an external cd drive direct. This will give you access to the printer set up controls on the lcd! I must add however that the best prints are achieved on Epson Premium Glossy paper which isn't cheap, but you can pic up two packs (buy one get one free) of 6 x 4 (50 sheets per pack) for £5.99 from most outlets when on offer. In my opinion if you've got a printer this good then why print on inferior papers, believe me I've tried them all - that said the best fuji paper gives a good result, which to most people would be more than good enough, I use this when I'm printing images to be framed behind glass (you can get it for £9.99 for 20 sheets of A4 - great value). Another point - printing direct from memory card/zip/cd gives a truly fantastic result, BUT if your camera is Pictbridge enabled then print direct from there, there are different printing options which give an even better result! (I'm on Cannon Digital ixus 50 and Canon EOS 300d), But to most people printing from card or pc will be more than good enough, and quicker. Also you dont have to use Epson inks, I pay £2.50 for mine - just as good although maybe they dont last quite as long. Why am I writing this review - never done one before, but this printer is the dogs doo dah's, I've recommended it to about a dozen people who are all equally as happy as me. By the way, I'm in the printing trade and you will not beat this device for home use!
