Relax, Unwind and Slip into something more comfortable..., 28 Nov 2003
After having a year of illness, stress and worry in the family, music from the likes of the darkness, Misteeq or Fatman Scoop won't exactly help me to relax this Christmas. So what will I pick off the shelf? Non other than the 'Very Best of Chillout Sessions.' Taking us into a wonderful dream of serenity first is Dido 'Here With Me.' It's almost a request for our loved ones to join us, lye here with me, and enjoy this album. Her graceful voice, always a treat to hear, speaks softly to us. More Star-guests include; Moby, Badly Drawn Boy, Groove Armada, Roger Sanchez and the hilarious anthem to all couch potatoes out there 'Lazy' by X-Press 2 feat. David Byrne. Although these songs have been dance anthems and made people get on the dancefloor, they have been amazingly re-mixed to the highest quality and turned into either love, peace or bedtime slumber tunes. The real highlights on this album though make you totally feel at peace. The still exquisite debut Moloko 'Sing it back' travels through to your ear the gentle, almost water trickling sound, you can see her dancing in the moonlight, shining like a star in the amazing dress the lead singer dazzled in for the video. Groove Armada's 'By the River' makes you feel as if you’re lying on a beach, sun shining down (you can almost feel the heat on your eyelids!) But the real gem on this album has to be Jakkata's 'American Dream.' Used for the film American Beauty, this tune is DEFINATLEY beautiful. The playful dance on the keys of the piano glides you into a state of meditation and serenity. Possibly the greatest chillout track ever, American Dream pulls you into another world and you'll never want to go back. In my opinion this compilation lives up to its name. If your worries are starting to get you down, stick this in your personal player, light some candles and find a comfortable place in your home. Trust me, they will drift away and you will be one with the world.

What more could you need?, 3 Aug 2004
A comprehensive compilation bringing together some of the greatest chillout numbers of the past few years. I love the fact that the individual Chillout Sessions bring you some of the lesser known tracks, but its great to have a collection of the classics, together on one CD.A must for any chillout fan!
