Fussy woman seeks 'sexy' kettle...!, 13 Sep 2004
My previous kettle had served me well for many years but I had a new kitchen fitted and it just looked dated and tired sat on the side. What I wanted to adorn my new worktop was the Brad Pitt of the kettle world ~ a kettle with sleekness and style, frankly, a 'sexy' kettle!I had no idea that choosing a kettle would be such a difficult task ~ there are just so many out there. I finally decided upon the Breville JK27 Lightning as it's customer reviews were so positive, it was a great price too and it looked fabulous in the photo. Now, I am an extremely fussy kinda girl and definitely hard to please, so when I tell you that this kettle is WONDERFUL you know it really must be something special! It looks great, all shiny and expensive-looking on the side. It boils very quickly and is extremely quiet in doing so. The 2 viewing windows are a big plus, especially when it's boiling and the whole thing lights up like a spacecraft! The keep-warm facility is a real treat and it comes into it's own when you have friends round or for a quick cuppa during the TV ad breaks. It has a great easy-grip handle, which feels almost spongy, but more importantly very safe. So, has it got any faults? Well, I thought long and hard about this and basically I've come up with 2 minor niggles. Firstly, the level indicators on the viewing windows are written in white/grey, which makes them very difficult to see when filling the kettle. Secondly, I've found it really quite heavy, but then it is stainless steel and my previous kettle was plastic, which probably accounts for me noticing such a difference. Overall, this is a simply marvellous kettle and it would make a stylish statement in any kitchen. I am over the moon with it ~ it is, indeed, the sexy kettle that I'd been looking for!
