In danger of becoming a watered-down shadow of their former selves, Mobb Deep's sixth album takes the Queensbridge duo back to the thug-lovin' hip-hop that made them famous. Amerikaz Nightmare may have contributions from Kanye West and Twista but for the most part it's aggressive, raw, stripped down East-coast hip-hop.

The big single, "Got it Twisted" has a funky synth bouncing along in it, not so hardcore as the rest of the album but a few tracks like this, "Win or Lose" (where they rap over a vocal break) and the funky breaks of "Neva Change", "Shorty Bop" and "Throw Your Hands" add a bit of light relief. "Dump" featuring Nate Dogg and "Real Niggaz" are a pair of sing-a-long head nodders that again break some of the tension. However, it is songs like the title track, "Flood on the Block", "When you Hear the" and "On the Run" that make Amerikaz Nightmare what it is--the tense, carefully constructed production under venomous rhymes makes for powerful stuff. One last highlight is "One of Ours Part 2", great hip-hop made savage by a manic hi-hat that would lend itself to an incredible D&B remix.

Rough and ready with a few light-hearted moments to keep newer fans happy, Havoc & Prodigy have stopped their crowns from slipping with an album that's sure to please everyone. --Steve Beefmark

Amerikaz Nightmare is the long-awaited return from hardcore rap legends Mobb Deep. Since their breakthrough album The Infamous was released in 1995, they have been one of the few groups to garner universal acclaim from within the rap community continuing the tradition of groups such as Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan & N.W.A. Mobb Deep are certified hip-hop legends known for their signature club bangers and thug anthems such as 1994's "Shook One's Part II", 1996`s "G.O.D. PT III", 1999's "Quiet Storm" and not forgetting the lead single "Got It Twisted" and "Clap Those Thangs" an album track featuring 50 Cent.

Amerikaz Nightmare features guest production from Alchemist (Jay-Z, Pharoahe Monche, Cypress Hill, G-Unit), Lil John (Petey Pablo, Too Short, Ludacris) and Kanye West (Twista, Nas, Mos Def, Jay-Z, Syleena Johnson). With appearances from Twista, Jadakiss, Nate Dogg and Noyd.

Wow!! I have been a huge Mobb Deep fan for years and was very pleased to hear them back to their best!!
After hearing the lead single 'Got it twisted' several months ago, I couldn't wait to hear what P & Havoc had to offer this time around. Therefore, I expected great things and wasn't left dissapointed. This is the Mobb's best album, without a doubt!! The opening five tracks set the standard which never slips, with examples being the amazing cuts such as the opener 'Americaz nightmare' and 'Dump' featuring the great Nate Dogg. This album has reinstated the Mobb as the definitive rap group around as unlike their last album, every track is real, grimey hip hop which the Mobb have made famous, no commercial trax what so ever (which is a rareity today). Mobb are on point throughout with some great cameo appearances from Jadakiss, Nate Dogg, Lil Jon, Twista and more!! Prodigy is still as dominant on the mic and Havoc's production is as tight as ever.
Standout traks are: 'Real N***az', 'Americaz Nighmare', 'Got it twisted'&'Real Gangstaz(producer/Lil Jon)' to name a few. But truthfully, every song is fantastic. Very rarely do you hear an album as consistent as this!
Production on this classic come from Havoc, Alchemist, Kanye West, Lil Jon and Red Spyda. !WoW!
One love to the Mobb for such a grimey comeback! LC

from what ive heard of this album it sounds f*cking brilliant and ive heard 90% of this album. The album starts off where they left off with there last real album infamy, with the album title track amerikaz nightmare which is excellant and keeps with mobb deep's old style. Dump featuring Nate Dogg is everything u can expect from any song that nate dogg features on. Then theres Got It Twisted which is the hottest single ive heard this year and also the best track on the album. When You hear that, alchemist produced is a standout track also. Real Gangstaz is excellant too and you can tell its produced by lil jon. one of ours part 2 is the second part of the song one of ours which was featured on the barbershop 2 lp. Then you have throw your hands up which is produced by the one and only kanye west which is an awesome track, and then the got it twisted remix which is good but not as good as the original. BELIEVE ME YOU NEED THIS ALBUM IN YOUR LIFE!!!!

My God, what an excellent album! I absolutely love this album! This is the all round package when it comes to alums. The beats are crazy and the lyrics, as in Mobb Deep fashion, are immense and they lyrics work to the beat; there are no signs of disjointedness on this cd!

I love the whole album but my two favourite songs which for me stand out the most are; 'Got it Twisted' and 'Dump,' which features the ever present and amazing vocals from Nate Dogg. You also get to hear the, in my eyes, great voice and skills of Jadakiss and there is an appearance from Twista on the remix of 'Got it Twisted.' With no disrespect to the artists that did the collaborations, they, in a sense, weren't needed because of the immence vocals and lyrics from Havoc and Prodigy!

I love everything on this album and I don't see why others would disagree with me! I would strongly recommend you buying this album!
