I'm sorry to say this but I'm glad Coal Chamber are no more. This album if infinitely better than any Coal Chamber offering (although Dark Days was class). The most crunching guitars and evil vocals I've heard for a while make this album one for those who like their music dark, punishing and fast. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Some of the previous reviews I’ve read on this page have said that this album is Black Metal or Grindcore. After I picked myself back up the floor from laughing, I can only assume from that statement is that they’ve never heard any Black Metal or Grindcore in their entire lives, because it’s nothing of the sort, or even remotely similar to be honest. Listen to a bit of Darkthrone or early Mayhem to see what BM sounds like, or Nasum or Agoraphobic Nosebleed to sample a bit of Grind. This is Nu-Metal, plain and simple. To anyone who disagrees with me and says "Oh no, this isn't Nu-Metal, it's much heavier and faster", I’d simply say that Nu-Metal played fast is still Nu-Metal, and the fact it’s released on Roadrunner is a bit of a giveaway to be honest. To give Devildriver their due credit, they’re at least better than Dez’s previous band Coal Chamber, though that wouldn’t be particularly difficult because the sound of greasy chalk being scraped down a blackboard was better than Coal Chamber. Like most Nu-Metal, this varies between painfully average and shockingly inept. The best songs on the album are ‘Die (And Die Now)’ and ‘I Could Care Less’ (which sums up how I feel about this record to be honest) but apart from those high points, both of which which owe more than a little debt to the Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene in terms of their sound, there isn’t a great deal of interest on the album. Fourteen year-old kids who wear Slipknot hooded tops are who this is aimed at, and I’m sure they’ll lap it up, but for anyone who is serious about their extreme music it’s basically pop music.

A great first album for the DevilDriver boys !!!

This album is a really good cd to get you in the mood for a huge mosh pit at a gig/concert/festival.

Go and buy the album to find out for yourself how good they actully are, and i think you well be amazed

A pure class cd !!!
