I'd read that the Sennheiser mx500 is the in-ear headphone of choice, but I wasn't expecting them to be quite so good as they are. The sound is beautifully clear, with a nice flat response.
Female vocals come over as open and uncompressed (I was listening to Dido's No Angel for example), with loads of headroom.
Perhaps most surprising is the bass response, which is far better than I expected (and I expected it to be pretty good, based on the reviews I've read). The sound is much more what you'd expect from a large pair of Sennheisers - clean, open and weighty, with no nasty artifacts and no obvious roll-off in the lower frequencies.
They're surprisingly good.

Having purchased an mp3 player, I wanted a pair of headphones with avolume control built into the lead. As with any hifi system an importantpart of system are the speakers so dont try and skimp on costs buy buyingchaep headphones. These are extremely high quality. Crisp treble andpunchy bass. The cables to each ear are equal distant apart. The caseshown is for keeping the cable and ear pieces tidy when not inuse.
Highly recommended.

I bought some of these headphones to replace the headphones that come with the iPod. They are a cool blue colour and are not the "mug him, he has an iPod" white of the standard phones.

The headphones fit better than the iPod buds but I still need to use the foam pads. Sound quality is excellent. I struggled for a while trying to compare the iPod earbud headphones with these. Both by using the iPod and using my PC sound card (Audigy 2). I have concluded that the iPod headphones are slightly better, but these MX500 headphones are 20x better than the Sony Fontopia (the £8(ish) ones) earbud style headphones.

Sound quality is excellent and the MX500's give a good deep base and clear lyrics. General quality is a good clear sound output.

If you have an iPod and like the white headphones then I recommend that you keep what you have. If you don't have an iPod or you find the standard iPod headphones too uncomfortable then I highly recommend these.
