Dated but no less interesting, 26 Oct 2004
This book was written in the 60's so listed attacks are not recent, sightings didn't happen yesterday but it doesn't make it any less fascinating.David Kenyon Webster's wife wrote this book, using all of his notes and documents, but I get the feeling he would be proud, despite not having read any of his other books. His argument is strongly in favour of sharks, who despite almost certainly being responsible for his own demise, are responsible for far less human life taking than other species on the planet. Having studied , read about and hunted for them, Webster was more than able to detail behaviours of sharks from all species, showing them to be quite different from Peter Benchleys fictional image! I suppose if I had to criticise this book it would be because he only briefly skims over the modern day shark's relation to Megaladon and the photographs, though nice to see, do not necesseraly show us the more interesting parts of shark behavior/images. Then again, his wife did not know what he wanted in the book. So, it is a very interesting book, that maybe could of given a little more, but has some fascinating attacks and fokelore, which we all love to hear.
