Synopsis

Professional skateboarder and JACKASS star Bam Margera directed and co-wrote this gleefully vulgar comedy starring his cohorts Ryan Dunn and Brandon DiCamillo. Dunn stars as, well, Ryan Dunn--a guy who is hung up on his ex-girlfriend, Glauren (Jenn Rivell), who is off having a fantastic time sleeping with other guys. When he hears that she's been seeing metalhead Hellboy (Rake Yohn), he recruits his friends Valo (Bam Margera) and Falcone (Brandon DiCamillo) to get proof of their unholy union. While the guys are going to great lengths for their friend, including breaking into Glauren's house, Ryan is bumping heads with lawmen and slowly losing his mind. Pro skaters Tony Hawk, Jason Ellis, and Bucky Lasek also make appearances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stupid. Just stupid., 28 Mar 2005
By D. Buttar "elastibandit" (Oxford, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Haggard was a big step forward for Bam and the CKY crew. It took the stupidity of CKY and Jackass, and gave it a plot backdrop. And, thankfully, it worked brilliantly.

The storyline is based on fact - Ryan Dunn's girlfriend leaves him for a metalcore poster boy named "Hellboy," played by Rake Yohn. Ryan then hires his friends - Bam playing his hero Ville Valo of HIM and Bran Dicamillo playing a mad scientist called Falcone - to sort the mess out for him.

For a bunch of jackasses the acting isn't half bad, and the humour is thick and fast - assuming you're not expecting anything at all sophisticated. I swear Bran is the funniest man alive, you can give him the dullest script on Earth and he will make it funny. In this he's no exception, and lends his talent to several of the people in the film alongside his main character. Raab Himself is also very very funny in this, playing Bran's doofus cousin.

The DVD has the added bonus of a "making-of" feature, though I wouldn't really say it has much to do with the film. It explores several randomly funny topics within the CKY crew, as well as a very moving look at Ryan's heroine-addicted friend.

In all, this DVD package is a must-buy, and will have you laughing no matter how many times you watch it.

5.0 out of 5 stars U LIKE TECHNOLOGY, 29 Oct 2003

basically in about 2 words, the greatest film i have ever seen.
u dont need to worry about their acting or whether it had a good plot or not. it was the most funniest film i ever seen. especially when brandon starts talking about his reverse microwave and tells jess he dont need to cry coz he is not involved. i believe if anyone hadnt seen cky or wasnt a big fan of jackass watches this film they will never stop watching it for the pure laughter factor. BAM rules and Brandon DiCamillo is the greatest guy of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Severely underrated comedy, 20 Feb 2004
By Gordon Neill (Cranleigh, Surrey United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For any devotees of the eighteenth century, this is a sublime piece of comedy from the talented pen of Eric Chappell. Keith Barron plays the hapless and utterly unscrupulous Squire Haggard whose attempts to escape his creditors and the law are invariably laden with comedy. The interplay between Haggard and his foppish offspring, Roderick (played with aplomb by Reece Dinsdale) is highly amusing, whilst Sam Kelly's performance as Grunge (Haggard's ostensibly socialist but ultimately self-serving servant) is a minor masterpiece.

The dialogue is, of course, not entirely reminiscent of the mores and values of the 18th century but it at least conveys some of the flavour of this most hedonistic period in English history and, what's more, does so with a satisfying amount of comic timing. Thoroughly recommended.
