The first thing to note is that this is published on DVD only: although it runs on non-DVD machines, you need to have access to a DVD reader to load it. Once installed (do remember to include the latest online upgrade - support is good) check a few routes you know. If you've used an earlier edition (and this software goes back a very long way) you will notice that there is no speed increase now it's OS X native. Frankly, it crawls. However, by way of compensation, there is an increase in detail: you now get street numbers and more places of interest. The big innovation, though, is the online traffic density feature. Turn this on, and recalculate your trial routes: you will be amazed by the ingenuity (or perversity, depending on your point of view) with which the software tries to bypass traffic holdups. Just apply a little common sense before following some of the recommendations!

Conclusion: for twenty quid you can't complain, but the product is showing its age now. Could this be the last version to appear before the company concentrates on its GPS offerings?
