The fans of John Greaves are surely in for a treat, as there is suddenly two new albums available by him, "The Caretaker" which includes ten new Greaves compositions and "On the Street Where You Live" which portrays John as a crooner.

I think it's about time that someone with "rock" credentials takes up this stuff and gives it a reverential go. John Greaves does a marvellous job with the 17 standards he has chosen to perform. The accompaniment (just piano and guitar) may seem rather stripped down compared to the often lavish productions usually associated with these tunes, but I can assume it helps to bring forth the true essence of the songs.

This is a beautiful album, good-humoured and relaxed, with John and the musicians in excellent form throughout.
