Initially the only song I heard that I was taken in by was 'Dragon Place' for all of its intriguing sounds. After more listening to this cd in the bacground of whatever I was doing (reading, drawing, or just trying to fall asleep) I started to hear more subtleties that I more and more enjoyed hearing. In the song 'Lost Ring', samples used by Murcof in the song 'Mir' can be heard flowing seemlessly in the bacground. I would compare the song 'I Am Flying' to the songs 'Love Bird' from Yokota's album 'Grinning Cat' and to 'Blue Sky and Yellow Sunflower' from Yokota's album 'Symbol', in that they all have the same light, energetic, and yet relaxed feeling that Susumu Yokota has been able to masterfully produce. The song '23 Degrees Dream' has the same relaxing feel that Yokota and Rothko used in some of the songs from 'Distant Sounds of Summer'. If you are a big fan of Yokota's or just looking for something unique to listen to, I would definately recommend adding this to your collection.

Although all of this recent ambient electronic releases have been similar in tone and sound, for some reason this album, although similar to the the rest, just doesn't have what it takes. Something is missing.

Whereas the sounds on his albums were once startling and fresh, now they sound very unimaginative. I don't think the move away from the more electronic style of ambient which he was doing first, to the more percussion and standard instrument based ambience that he is doing now, has done him any good. He is sounding too new age now for his own good.

I wouldn't recommend this album at all, go for his 'Sakura', 'Magic Thread', 'Grinning Cat' or 'Boy and the Tree' albums first.

I rate this close to "Sakura", but not quite as good. Though it is definitely better than "The Boy and the Tree", the only other of his CDs I have.
