DVD Description
Few artists have made their rise to fame in such an unorthodox and revolutionary way as David Bowie. Known as ‘The Chameleon Of Pop’ this unlikely pop star has created an enigma that has rivaled bands for over four decades. High profile publicity has surrounded Bowie throughout his career, brought upon by his ever changing personas, appearance and music styles. Pushing gender boundaries in his early career, Bowie became a source of intrigue. He was a controversialist who explored sexuality and transvestism and developed fantastic characters and alter egos to accompany his avant-guard style of music.

David Bowie: Sound & Vision collates Bowie’s revolutionary career, troubled personal life and current achievements both in and out of the music spotlight. Candid interviews with Bowie himself along with his wife, Iman, provide personal insights and musical contemporaries Moby, Iggy Pop and Trent Razor play homage to Bowie’s work. Footage of exhilarating live performances illuminate this rock ‘n’ roll showman and music video and film clips showcase an outstanding talent spanning over 30 years. This feature also looks at Bowie today and highlights his many passions and involvements with films, acting, design and art.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but not essential, 4 Nov 2003
As a huge Bowie fan I was promised lots of unseen footage upon the announcment of this. Sadly it has failed to live up to expectations. With Mr Bowie probably heading the polls for bootleg and unofficial material, I believe there is nothing here I haven't seen elsewhere. Also there are many inaccuracies, which is kind of annoying to a real Bowiephile. Such as the story of the Bowie eye saga. It was a fight over a girl called Deidre NOT Carol. In all I discovered 9 such historical mistakes. I set you the challenge of finding them!!!! (The name of a Pub being your starting point!)

All aside though, it is well packaged and some interesting speakers appear. Shame there is no up to date interview with the man himself, but the lovely Iman does shows up.

It is hardly essential viewing and for the casual person wanting an insight into the life of Bowie, may I suggest a book instead. Any one post 1996 available here will do.

(REAL NAME)
Not as good as Paul's Cracked Actor , but thats nearly 30 years ago and this shows how far Bowie as come on
With the Reality tour coming up shortly expect to find this on your TV shortly
Well worth it for the very early years and Friends around that time
Watch out for Iggy Eno
