Despite naysayers who assumed Culture Club were a nine-day wonder, their second album, 1983's COLOUR BY NUMBERS, not only outsold their debut in both Britain and the US, it's a far better album. KISSING TO BE CLEVER was a canny blend of pop and soul, but its occasional cryptic archness kept it at something of an emotional distance. From the gospelly piano ballad opener "That's the Way"--which like several tracks here features sterling backing vocals from Helen Terry--to the moving and dramatic "Victims", that's not a problem here. Even the enormous hits "Karma Chameleon" and "Church of the Poison Mind"--possibly Culture Club's best-ever single--have asoulful ease and swing missing from the debut, although they perhaps lack the emotional heft of the abovementioned songs.
As with KISSING TO BE CLEVER, American fans should know that this CD features the original British mix and track sequence.

This classic pop album from one of the most colourful bands of the 80s makes a welcome return in a "remastered" format. Five additional tracks join the original 10 songs which made this album a massive success when first released in 1983. Tracks such as the million-seller "Karma Chameleon" and powerful "Victims" need no introduction and the additional tracks, previously only available as "B-sides", make this album simply irresistible as perfect pop. Die-hard Culture Club fans will fondly remember "Man Shake", "Mystery Boy", "Melting Pot", "Colour by Numbers", and "Romance Revisited" and will welcome their inclusion in this album.

The original artwork has been retained but the inserts have been updated to include more photos of the band and picture covers of the UK singles. Twenty years on, this album still sounds fresh and and has lost none of its magic. Anyone who still pines for the 80s or wants a reminder of just how refreshing Culture Club were should get this new version - and that includes you Duranies!

The second biggest selling album of 1983 is back on cd remaster, classic! So get rid of your vinyl and upgrade to this masterpiece with the additional 5 bonus tracks which were b sides and 12 inch single extra tracks from back in the day. Contains 4 UK Top 5 singles and 1983's best selling single and Culture Club's signature tune Karma Chameleon, as well as Church of The Poison Mind, Victims, It's A Miracle and the huge USA hit Miss Me Blind. Each track on this cd is produced immaculately and George's soulful voice blends well. If you were a Club fan in the 80's, go on buy this cd and listen again to the ingenius of Boy George and Culture Club. Also includes a live version of Blue Minks Melting Pot, which of course was taken from the live in concert video A Kiss Across The Ocean. Fantastic.
