4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but expensive, 3 Feb 2008

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
It's a Roberts - that's like saying it's a Honda i.e. maybe not stunningly exciting but reliable and quality.

It's easy to tune and compact as a radio. Picks up every (analogue) station you will ever want if it's in range. The only omission is long wave (whihc i admit is a letdown for me). The sound is acceptable from such a small box and the battery life is reasonable. It's great if you listen to things like world service on SW or even MW stations. FM has the benefit of RDS too.

It's expensive, but excellent quality. If you want a radio that's easy to tune and light to carry then this is one that should be considered.

Don't confuse the Roberts product with similar looking (cheaper) products by other companies. I have compared and you really do get what you pay for. In particular, Steepletone used to do a lookalike as do a company called Eton - I feel that these are inferior products and you should buy the Roberts one.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent radio., 9 Jun 2009
By Owamya (Gornal, UK) - See all my reviews
The Roberts R9921 is a very competent radio which receives a good range of stations with very good sound quality considering the comparitively small speaker. The stereo signal obtained via the supplied headphones is superb. I would recommend it to anyone who requires a small high quality radio, useful for both home and travel use.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly, unreliable, 1 Jan 2009
By C. Thomas (Kent, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A decent radio, with good reception and everything else that it says it will do, it will do.

But for the price, and the brand name, I expect more. The first one went wrong in just under 12 months (replaced by Argos under warranty), the second went wrong in about 3 months (again, Argos didn't let me down) and the third lasted about 3 years (this time it was recycled). Every time the thing just died for no reason at all, and that was that.

Poor show.

Not as good as I expected from the good name of Roberts.
Picks up surrounding police and CB radio which is very annoying when you are listening to music. Read more
