Perfect compilation, 29 Oct 2003
What at an original, powerful sound! Creedence Clearwater revival was a very unique band with their evocative southern rock, the amazing vocals and their gripping tuneful songs. As a kid I didn't always understand the words because of the lead singer's unusual inflections but the songs never failed to move me.All the tracks are classics, including their version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine, but my favorites include the amazing on-the-road song Lodi and that anthem of foreboding, Bad Moon Rising, plus the brilliant Proud Mary and the swinging Down On The Corner. This is melodic rock at its best, with chart busters like Up Around The Bend, Long As I Can See The Light, Hey Tonight and Who'll Stop The Rain. This band played a large part in making the 1960s such a memorable time for great music and their sound has never been imitated or equalled. Although they were primarily a singles band, they also made stunning albums like Cosmo's Factory. This compilation is near perfect.
