The Girls in Love First series is great, even though i'm not a 13 year old teenager anymore, watching the dvd made me think of my teenage distresses. Jacqueline Wilson is a excellent children's writer and this tv series has done well to follow her books!

The way in which this DVD is adapted from Jacqueline Wilson's books projects the feelings of any, normal teenager. You feel as Ellie does. The cast choice emphasizes this greatly. An absolutely wonderful DVD.

This rating is incorrect. It is a PG, not a 12. It says on the actual DVD and picture of it and on the British Board of Film Classification website.
All in all, this is a good series but the girls are supposed to be aged 13-14 years old and they are played by 16-19 year olds which don't look that age! And, if you're a big fan of the books, don't bother with this. It's nothing true to the book-Ellie is thin, confident and popular. And she has great boyfriends. The storyline isn't very close to the book. But if you're looking for a good present for your 9+ daughter, or if you have seen the TV series (premiered on cITV, now on Sky channel 604/605 Nickelodeon regularly), I recommened this.
But it's not fantastic and I more recommend the book if you are a fairly mature 10 or 11 year old or over 12 (even adults!). Jacqueline Wilson is a wonderful, humourous author, who I aspire to be like and she will encourage your daughter (maybe even son!) to read and sometimes her hidden 'advice' or moral is helpful. Thanks for reading!
