DVD Description

Wallow in the nostalgia of the 1950s as Britain's best loved family are back in this celebration of love, family life, and romance in the idyllic British countryside. Loveable rogue Pop Larkin (David Jason), ample-bosomed Ma (Pam Ferris) and their six children radiate happiness and hardly have a care in the world.  Whilst Pop's unconventional moneymaking schemes bubble along, Ma nurtures the family from the fragrant warmth of her busy kitchen and the children blossom; Home Farm is a paradise of animals, sunshine and happiness.

Includes all 3 series aired on British TV including the two specials: Christmas is Coming and Le Grand Weekend.



Synopsis

David Jason and Pam Ferris star as the heads of a typical 1950s family in THE DARLING BUDS OF MAY - THE PERFICK COLLECTION, a complete retrospective of the entire 3 series. Pop Larkin (Jason) endeavours to make money by unconventional means whilst Ma Larkin (Ferris), in more traditional style, heads the kitchen and looks after the family's six children.Also starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Philips Franks.

I have loved The Darling Buds of May since I was seven and recorded every episode on VHS, this is great because I have watched them many times, however, VHS doesn't last! When the DVD was released I ran out and bought it. I'm sure people purchasing this item are fans of the programme and the wonderful episodes are unchanged. For me the bonus of owning the DVD is that I don't have to fast forward through the adverts from 1993 and I know it won't run out in a couple of years! Buy it, it will be an asset to your collection and if you can't remember one or two of the episodes or subtle jokes then you can curl up on the sofa and refresh your memory, don't worry if you find yourself grinning at the TV, this is a normal reaction!

The Darling Buds of May series is a trip into total nostalgia where it cannot fail to stir the emotions. Watching these DVD's not only take you back to a time when life was far more simple and straightforward, but full of the joy of life itself. The way the original stories have been adapted and portrayed is wonderful.

There are very few DVD's that I would watch over and over, but these are top of the list and will be for many years to come.
