A good brush and a worthwhile upgrade., 15 Feb 2005
By A Customer
I have found the Oral B 7500 can't get my teeth cleaner than a manual toothbrush. However compared to a manual toothbrush it:1) Is more efficient. Using the built in two minute vibrating timer, I was surprised how quickly I could clean my teeth. When I have cleaned this quickly in the past with a manual brush, it left behind noticable plaque. 2) Is much better at cleaning other parts of my mouth (the roof, tongue and cheeks) because of the small brush head. 3) Has a slight polishing action. My teeth are slightly whiter. It isn't an amazing difference, but the effect is noticable. 4) Provides a night light for my bathroom. A funny side effect but the small round blue light above the Braun Logo is as bright as a keychain LED torch or a candle. Compared to the Oral-B battery operated toothbrush I upgraded from the 7500 offers: 1) Improved quality. The 7500 feels better engineered. 2) Constant rotation speed. The 7500 isn't so dependent on battery freshness as it is always topped up by the charger. It feels around 85% as fast as my old brush on a new set of alkaline batteries. 3) In and out oscillations that don't seem to make much of a difference. The movement is miniscule, certainly not as big the diagrams show on their website, and probably a bit of a gimmick. Faster rotation speed is far more noticable to how efficient a toothbrush feels. Compared to sonic toothbrushs whose heads have an up and down or side to side motion, rotating head toothbrushes such as this one have been found to be more efficient as getting rid of plaque in every review I have read, without exception. Having said that they will all get your teeth clean.
