Incense by the Anglos has been released on CD as part of the Spencer Davis Group The Singles on BR. All the SDG and Traffic singles are included on this great CD, + the above mentioned Anglos single. A must buy for all Stevie Winwood fans.

If you first heard these tracks in the 60s or 70s and thought they were great at the time, then buy this CD. If you've never heard them before but appreciate great music played by expert musicians you won't be disappointed. These seldom played tracks are for the most part timeless in their appeal. I bought the cd essentially for one track "Incense". I never knew before who the Anglos were, and at the time believed them to be a Black soul band. I loved the single, and today it sounds even better, some 40 years later. The sound quality throughout this CD is excellent and with this number of tracks is truly value for money. Highly recommended

1) The Gimme Some Lovin cut is the messy US release, not the much superior UK mix.

2) Most of the best of the SDG B sides are missing from this compilation, elbowed off partially in favour of SDG hacks at standards like "Georgia on my Mind" - but why? Honourable exception "High Time Baby" which deserved (but never got) double-A side status. Given the title and premise of the CD, should have included "Blues in F", "Stevie's Blues", "Trampoline", "Sanity Inspector" etc in preference to the Traffic tracks

3) The Anglos recorded for the US label Sue Records in the early 1960s and so presumably were American, and presumably were therefore not the SDG 8-)

4) Eddie Hardin did good as Stevie's replacement - After Tea is a good track: However, Stevie was a hard act to follow.

5) Love those Captain Kirk T-Shirts they're wearing on the cover!
